Transport Workshop

In February 2023, the project team met with a number of Cambridge’s transport and travel groups for a workshop that examined the emerging transport strategy for the site.

The transport strategy for Hartree, developed by Pell Frischmann and Urban Movement, is shaped around one of the site's key principles: the 5-minute neighbourhood. This approach to urban design looks to locate shops, schools, workspaces, and other daily amenities within a 5-minute walk or cycle from homes.. By embracing the 5-minute neighbourhood approach, the emerging transport strategy strives to create a sustainable, inclusive, and low-carbon neighbourhood. Prioritising active travel and shared transport modes, the strategy aims to ensure convenient and environmentally-friendly travel options for all residents.

During the workshop the team presented the emerging strategy and welcomed feedback from the participants. Subsequent sessions will be organised to gather more detailed input on specific aspects of the strategy, including active travel, public transport, and private car usage. If you are interested in participating in these follow-up sessions and providing your insights, please get in touch.
