Following a public vote, we are pleased to announce Hartree is now the new name for the Core Site.
The new name is a tribute to Eva Hartree, the first female mayor of Cambridge who was in office from 1924 to 1925. Eva Hartree was a pioneering activist for women’s rights and held public service roles in Cambridge for over 40 years. As the Hon Secretary of Cambridge Women’s Housing Association, Eva Hartree had a ground breaking role in providing housing for professional women.
Eva Hartree embodied the progressive spirit of Cambridge, which is something that runs through everything we do in creating this new part of the city. Understanding and engaging with the community is at the heart of the way we are designing and building Hartree so it’s particularly pleasing that we have been able to name it in partnership with local people. |

Over the rest of the Summer there will be more opportunities to view and comment on our development proposals for Hartree. We have already been at the Strawberry Fair and Arbury Carnival. In August we will be at the Cambridge City Council's Music in the Park events. Join us there! |
